My Story
Hi! My name is Allison Timberlake. They say that 80% of workers don’t like their jobs, and I used to be one of them. About ten years ago I worked at a corporate job, and I was miserable. It felt like I was going to jail for eight hours every day. I believed my life had a purpose, but I had no idea what it was or how to find a career that helped me to live it. All I knew was this wasn’t it. I was completely STUCK.
I began asking friends and family for help, and while they had some good advice, none of them could help me figure out what I really wanted. There was no such thing as a career coach back then, so I began spending hours and hours reading everything I could get my hands on about career happiness. I listened to books on tape during my commute and at every lunch hour. I took workshops and seminars trying to find the answers (and draining my bank account in the process). Eventually, I cracked the code. I couldn’t believe how simple it was! And when I began to implement what I had learned in my work life, my career improved so quickly it almost seemed unreal. I began to enjoy and even love my job, which I had thought was impossible.
Then, an interesting thing happened. When I no longer needed to leave my job to be happy, I got clarity about my life purpose and what I really wanted. I was now free to pursue new opportunities because I wanted them, not because I needed them to be happier. It is very hard to have clarity about what you want when you’re holding on to something too tightly, or needing too badly for a situation to change. Though it seems counter intuitive, the energy you spend wanting it to change actually keeps it in your reality longer.
If you are struggling in your career and would like clarity in your own life, I invite you to check out my free report, 101 Ways to Be Happy at Work – NOW! In it, I explain the secret to how I broke free of my misery and created happiness in my work life, and show you how you can do it too.
My dream is to help anyone whose work experience is taking a toll on their enjoyment of life. Life is too short to spend 40 or more hours a week doing something you don’t love. There are also consequences for your health, relationships and career and financial success. This is why I chose to be trained as a coach. I was personally trained and certified by life coach and best-selling author Dr. Martha Beck. In addition, I hold a certificate in Integrative Coaching from John F. Kennedy University. My background also includes degrees in Biology from Baylor University and Psychology from the University of Texas.
To your success!
Allison
